The Work of Hype

WorshipersMost Christians today, when they hear the word “Worship,” the first thing that comes to their mind is music. Music is a great form of worship that helps people to engage and to motivate repentance. Music can be very touching to a person’s heart / soul. But what I don’t like about music in the church, especially in modern day Charistmaticism, is when to the person worshiping, that’s really the only motivation for their worship.

Have you ever seen  a congregation worshiping to a slow song, or even a fast one at that, and the loudness / intensity of the music corresponds to how passionately the congregation is engaging? I swear that I’ve seen almost every week at my church, we’re singing. *” . . . and all will see how great, how great, is our God!”

Build–Build–BUILD–BUILD!!!!!!  (the words remain the same,) yet on the next down beat, 100 or so hands shoot up.

Now tell me if you don’t think that the worship displayed there was more about the music than the holy spirit. You can get this same effect by going to a rock concert that has touching lyrics. To me, it seems that in the Christian church, it’s become more about the work of hype then the work of Christ.

Working in Power

I want to know why people aren’t using the gifts of the spirit like they used to. Of course pretty much everyone in the Charismatic world prays in tounges, but why aren’t we seeing as much prophecy, healing, miraculous powers? I mean seriously! It says in 1 John that we proclaim to you what have seen and heard. These gifts are how people used to know that the Word of GOD was true. Like in the Old Testament when worshipers of Baal were taunting Elijah saying, “Where’s your god you little sissy boy? Why isn’t he coming? What kind of retard are you?” (In the Words of Jeoff Edition [ITWOJE]) And guess what Elijah did, he called fire down from heaven. And you better believe that all of those idiots knew right then and there that the god of Elijah was the god of the universe. Let’s try to live like Elijah.

This bugs me.

The Modern Day ChristianHow come when we’re at a public place, like school for example, usually the quiet kids people think of as the ”Good Christians.” ? While most of the kids that have any sort of personality are thought to be apart of the “cool” non-Christian crowd. I think that this is a huge load of c-r-a-p!! Christianity isn’t some sort of religious thing that you can do on Sundays and earn your way by just doing good things throughout the week and knocking on peoples’ doors with the sad news that they’re going to burn in Hell!! (I call this, Mormanism)

NO!

If you go back to bible days, think about Paul. Paul wasn’t the kind of guy you would find at school sitting at his desk saying nothing to the people around him and keeping his thoughts to himself. People friekin’ stoned him and left him to die for not keeping his thoughts to himself, and right after that, he brushed himself off and walked straight back into the city towards the people that just stoned him.I think that this is the type of Christian that all of us need to be. Not caring what others think about your opinions, and knowing what is right in all circumstances. And most of all, getting the Gospel Preached to those who need it.
